Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida visited Bolangir district today, marking a significant moment for heritage tourism in the region.

Her itinerary began in Nuapada district, from where she travelled to the culturally revered Ranipur-Jharial site in Bangomunda block, home to the ancient 64 Yogini shrine.

Recognised as one of India’s rare and sacred tantric temples, the 64 Yogini shrine at Ranipur-Jharial is set to undergo a major transformation. After offering prayers at the Someshwar Temple, Parida announced a development package of Rs 87.93 crore aimed at revitalising the shrine and its surroundings.

The announcement has sparked joy among local residents, who see it as a long-awaited step toward preserving and promoting the region’s spiritual legacy. The local administration and temple trust committee had made extensive preparations for the visit, ensuring smooth coordination and a ceremonial welcome.

The Deputy CM was accompanied by key dignitaries, including local MLA Laxman Bag, Tourism Commissioner-cum-Secretary Balwant Singh (IAS), BJP district president Sribash Behera, MP nominee Anil Nayak, and temple trust members led by convenor Anil Tripathy.

Following her visit to Ranipur-Jharial, Parida continued her journey toward Kantabanji, stopping en route at the revered Punjipathar Dangar Baba Temple. At Kantabanji, BJP workers greeted her with a warm welcome, celebrating the government’s commitment to cultural preservation and regional development.

This visit not only underscores the government’s focus on heritage tourism but also strengthens the cultural identity of western Odisha.
