Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi unveiled what he described as “100% proof” of a large-scale conspiracy to delete voters across India.

Addressing the media in Delhi, he claimed a “systematic operation” was underway to remove millions of names from electoral rolls.

“Some group of people have been targeting millions of voters for deletion across India. I am not saying anything today that is not backed up by 100 per cent proof,” Gandhi said, dubbing the operation a “vote chori factory.”

Second Presser in ‘Vote Chori’ Series
This was Gandhi’s second press conference on the issue. In his first, held on August 7, he alleged that the Election Commission (EC) was complicit in a scheme to enable vote theft, accusing it of systemic manipulation of electoral rolls in favour of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

At that time, Gandhi revealed findings from a six-month investigation conducted by a 40-member Congress team into the Mahadevapura assembly constituency in Karnataka’s Bengaluru Central region.

Findings from Mahadevapura Probe
According to Gandhi, the investigation uncovered:

  • Over 1,00,000 bogus voter entries in Mahadevapura

  • Thousands of fake voters with mismatched or fabricated father names and house numbers

  • Tampering with records including destruction of CCTV footage

  • Refusal by the EC to share voter-related data with opposition parties

Gandhi alleged that the Mahadevapura case was “just the tip of the iceberg” and that similar irregularities were observed in Maharashtra and Haryana, claiming those elections too were “stolen.”

Implications and Next Steps
Gandhi’s press conference signals that the Congress party plans to escalate the issue, possibly seeking legal remedies and demanding electoral reforms. The party is expected to release supporting documents and data in the coming days to substantiate its claims.

The Election Commission has so far maintained silence on the latest allegations. The BJP has previously dismissed Gandhi’s claims as baseless and politically motivated.
