The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will today observe the sacred Rahurekha Lagi ritual of Lord Jagannath and His siblings on the auspicious Bhadra Krushna Chaturthi Tithi.
According to the temple administration, the day’s proceedings will begin with the First Bhog Mandap ritual, followed by the Rahurekha Lagi between 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM. During this period, public darshan will be completely suspended, and the Singhadwar (main entrance) will remain closed until the ritual concludes.
The Rahurekha — a golden circular ornament placed on the deities’ foreheads — symbolises divine protection and auspiciousness. As a highly confidential and sacred ceremony, it is performed by select servitors behind closed doors without public viewing.
Temple authorities have urged devotees to plan visits accordingly, assuring that darshan will resume promptly after 6:30 PM. Large gatherings are expected in the evening for the first glimpse of the deities after the ritual.
