The Pune Police have issued formal notices to 51 students and 29 coaching class and study-room operators for backing or participating in ongoing unauthorised protests.
The agitations demand greater transparency in Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations and the resignation of the commission’s chairman.
Despite police denial of permissions, demonstrations have persisted across multiple locations in the city, drawing thousands of job aspirants voicing frustration over recruitment delays, examination patterns, and institutional accountability.
Law enforcement officials stated that evidence continues to be gathered through video recordings at protest sites, which will serve as the basis for potential criminal proceedings against organisers and participants defying official bans. Security has been heavily augmented across all flashpoints to maintain public order.
Additionally, police have launched a separate inquiry into an unauthorised drone spotted flying over the protest site near the SM Joshi Bridge. Authorities are working to trace the operators to determine if illegal aerial recording equipment was deployed without clearance.
The MPSC protests mirror broader nationwide student agitations concerning examination irregularities, intensifying political and administrative pressure on state machinery.
