Bhubaneswar: Popular DJ Azex alias Akshay Kumar died by suicide due to severe mental stress as suggested by the preliminary investigation.
Police are waiting the post-mortem report and investigation will be based on the autopsy report and digital evidence, Zone-1 ACP Manas Gadnayak said.
“The family of the deceased has filed a complaint at the Kharavela Nagar police station, based on which a case has been registered. Those against whom the complaint has been made will be investigated.” The ACP said.
The popular DJ was found dead at his Bhubaneswar residence on Saturday under mysterious circumstances.
Azex alias Akshay Kumar, who was fondly known as the ‘smiling DJ of Odisha’, was found dead at his residence after a thunderstorm on Saturday night.
His family members said “There was a power cut during a thunderstorm yesterday and Azex was inside his room. When we went to call him at around 10 pm, we found his door closed. Later, we found his body hanging after we broke open the door.”
They further alleged the girlfriend of the DJ was blackmailing him.
“A girl with whom Akshay was in a relationship and one of her friends are behind this,” his uncle Bholanath Moharana said.
As per one of his friends, Akshay’s girlfriend was demanding money from him and was allegedly harassing him mentally over some pictures and videos.
The family has demanded a detailed investigation into the death. They have also requested the authorities to verify call records.
