President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled arrival in Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district, was delayed on Friday due to adverse weather conditions.
She was originally expected to land at the Dandbose Airstrip at 3:45 pm, but her aircraft diverted to Kalaikunda in West Bengal.
From Kalaikunda, the President travelled by road through Bangriposi and Bisoi to reach Rairangpur. Security arrangements along the route were strengthened to ensure smooth passage. Officials confirmed that despite the delay, her programs in Rairangpur will continue as planned.
The President’s itinerary includes the inauguration of the AIIMS satellite centre in Rairangpur later in the evening. Local authorities have made extensive preparations for the event, including traffic management and crowd control measures.
Reliable sources said the diversion was necessary to ensure safety amid unfavourable weather conditions. The administration coordinated closely with the President’s convoy to facilitate her travel by road.
