The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, conferred the prestigious SCOPE Eminence Awards for the year 2022–23 in a ceremony held in New Delhi today.
The awards, instituted by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), recognize outstanding contributions of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) across diverse domains including sustainable development, innovation, corporate governance, and social responsibility.
In her address, President Murmu emphasized the transformative role of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) in shaping India’s economic and social landscape since independence. She lauded their evolution in response to changing national priorities and their continued commitment to inclusive growth, technological advancement, and ethical governance.
Highlighting their involvement in flagship initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, the President cited Operation Sindoor and the indigenous Akashteer Air Defence System as shining examples of CPSE-led innovation in national security. She expressed pride in the public sector’s contribution to India’s growing technological self-reliance.
President Murmu affirmed that CPSEs will be instrumental in achieving the national goal of building a developed India by 2047. She urged enterprises to align their decisions with nation-building, guided by ethics, sensitivity, and service to society.
The SCOPE Eminence Awards stand as a testament to the enduring legacy and future potential of India’s public sector in driving sustainable and inclusive development.
