On the occasion of Vijayadashami, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and several other leaders extended their greetings to the nation, underscoring the festival’s message of truth, courage, and the eternal triumph of good over evil.
Marking the conclusion of the Durga Puja festivities and the victory of Lord Ram over Ravana, Vijayadashami—also known as Dussehra—is being celebrated across India with devotion and grandeur.
President Murmu: Dharma Over Adharma
In her message, President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the festival’s moral and social essence.
“The occasion symbolises the victory of dharma over adharma and inspires citizens to renounce anger and ego while embracing courage and determination. May this festival inspire us to build a society where all move ahead together, guided by justice, equality, and harmony,” she said in her greeting.
PM Modi: Courage and Devotion Must Guide Us
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended wishes to citizens through a post on X.
“Vijaya Dashami celebrates the triumph of good and righteousness over evil and falsehood. May courage, wisdom, and devotion always guide our paths. Wishing my fellow Indians a happy Vijaya Dashami,” the PM wrote.
Odisha CM Mohan: Blessings of Maa Durga
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described Vijayadashami as a celebration of justice and divine grace.
“On this sacred day of the victory of truth over falsehood and righteousness over unrighteousness, heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all. May Maa Durga bless everyone with peace, prosperity, and the welfare of the world,” Majhi conveyed in his post.
Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati also joined in with his greetings, wishing happiness and prosperity for all under the blessings of Maa Durga.
Celebrations Across Odisha
Across Odisha, the festival is being observed with rituals at temples and community pandals. Devotees thronged mandaps from the early morning as Chandi Path and Vedic chants reverberated. Priests conducted traditional Aparajita Puja and the immersion of the Kalash.
The festivities will culminate in the evening with the symbolic burning of Ravana effigies (Ravan Dahan), signifying Lord Ram’s victory over evil. Despite intermittent rainfall in parts of the state, the atmosphere remains vibrant with devotion and community celebrations
