President of India Droupadi Murmu graced the special session commemorating the centenary celebration of Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam, Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the gathering, the President emphasised that since ancient times, saints and sages have guided society through their actions and words. She stated that Sri Sathya Sai Baba holds a special place among such great personalities, dedicating his life to the welfare of society.
President Murmu noted that Sathya Sai Baba strongly believed “service to humanity is service to God”. Consequently, he linked spirituality with selfless service and personal transformation, inspiring millions to follow the path of service.
Social Welfare Contributions
The President praised the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust for providing free, high-quality education that combines academic excellence with character-building. She further acknowledged the Trust’s initiatives in offering free medical care and supplying drinking water to thousands of drought-affected villages. Thus, she described these efforts as examples of turning ideals into reality.
Eternal Messages
Quoting Sathya Sai Baba’s messages “Love All, Serve All” and “Help Ever, Hurt Never”, President Murmu affirmed that these values remain eternal and universal. Moreover, she emphasised that the five human values—truth, morality, peace, love, and non-violence—form a curriculum relevant to all cultures and times.
Role in Nation-Building
Transitioning to the theme of national development, President Murmu stressed that nation-building is the duty of all organisations in the spirit of Nation First. She urged spiritual organisations, NGOs, the private sector, and citizens to contribute to the Government of India’s efforts to simplify life and empower individuals to utilise their talents for national progress. Ultimately, she said, such collective contributions will help India achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
