President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, attended and addressed the Antarrajyiy Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh – Kartik Jatra at Gumla, Jharkhand on December 30, 2025.
During her speech, President Murmu described visiting Jharkhand, the birthplace and workplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, as a pilgrimage. She praised Birsa Munda as a symbol of social justice and tribal pride. Furthermore, she recalled the contributions of Pankhraj Saheb Kartik Oraon, who strengthened tribal identity and dedicated his life to education, social unity, and the upliftment of the tribal community.
The President urged citizens to follow the ideals of these leaders for the overall development of society and the nation. In addition, she emphasised that Jharkhand and its surrounding regions have produced many tribal heroes whose stories must be shared widely. She noted that the government is establishing tribal museums to preserve and promote these legacies.
Moreover, Murmu stressed that individuals and institutions connected to tribal heritage must ensure that the contributions of tribal heroes are passed on to the youth and future generations. She underlined the importance of connecting younger generations with tribal traditions while encouraging them to embrace modern development.
Finally, expressing confidence, the President said that tribal communities will continue progressing while preserving their rich heritage and identity.
