President Droupadi Murmu landed in Odisha’s capital on Monday, commencing her two-day official tour filled with academic and cultural engagements.
Odisha Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan welcomed Smt. Droupadi Murmu at the Bhubaneswar Airport.
On the first day, she will preside over the 5th convocation ceremony of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where degrees will be conferred upon 643 students across various medical disciplines.
Tomorrow, she will attend the 13th convocation of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack, where several eminent personalities will receive honorary degrees. The President’s presence underscores the importance of academic excellence in shaping the future of Odisha.
Adding to the cultural dimension, President Murmu will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Ravenshaw Girls’ High School, an institution with historic significance. She will also participate in the birth anniversary celebrations of Adikabi Sarala Das, Odisha’s revered literary figure, where she will present the Kalinga Ratna Award-2024.
Security arrangements have been intensified in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, with 70 platoons of police and 300 officers deployed to ensure the smooth execution of the events.
President Murmu’s visit symbolises a fusion of heritage and progress, reflecting Odisha’s growing stature in healthcare, education, and cultural preservation.
