In a landmark event marking the first such occurrence since India’s independence, President Droupadi Murmu is set to address members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on November 27 at 4 PM. This historic program will include arrangements for a live broadcast, allowing the general public to tune in and witness the occasion.
The Assembly building has been specially decorated in anticipation of the President’s visit, with all preparations now complete. The event will see the presence of current MLAs, former MLAs, MPs, ministers, and administrative officials. Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy shared details about the President’s itinerary, highlighting its significance.
Speaker Padhy emphasized that President Murmu’s address is a matter of immense pride for Odisha. Having previously served as an MLA and minister in the state, she is now returning as the President to offer guidance to all attendees. The President has already delivered addresses in legislative assemblies across several states, and this visit to her home state is eagerly awaited. All necessary arrangements and preparations have been meticulously handled, the Speaker added.
According to government sources, President Murmu will arrive on November 27 via a special Indian Air Force aircraft at the Biju Patnaik International Airport. Following her arrival, she will proceed to Raj Bhavan to inaugurate the newly constructed Kalinga Guest House. She is scheduled to reach the Assembly at 4:20 PM and deliver her address from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The President will spend the night at Raj Bhavan and attend a dinner hosted by the Governor. She is expected to depart from Odisha the next morning at 9:35 AM.
