Authorities have begun extensive preparations for the famous Lingaraj Temple Jagar, which will be celebrated during Maha Shivaratri in Bhubaneswar.
A high-level meeting was held today at Lok Seva Bhavan to coordinate arrangements.
Odisha’s Law Minister chaired the meeting, attended by Bhubaneswar Mayor, Ekamra MLA, and senior officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Discussions focused on ensuring safety, crowd management, transport facilities, sanitation, lighting, medical support, and emergency response measures.
Officials emphasised strict crowd control inside and around the temple premises, fire safety arrangements, and coordinated planning for any unforeseen situations. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, ASI, and police administration were directed to work together to deliver a safe and smooth experience for devotees.
The Lingaraj Temple, one of Odisha’s oldest and most revered shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, attracts thousands of devotees from across India and abroad during Maha Shivaratri. The Jagar includes traditional rituals, bhajans, kirtans, and cultural programs, making it a spiritually significant event.
The Law Minister instructed all departments to complete preparations on time and ensure that devotees enjoy a safe and spiritually enriching experience. Following the meeting, responsibilities were distributed among departments, and work has already begun.
