The main accused in the murder of Police Mitra Sahadev Nayak, Rama Nayak, surrendered at Mancheswar police station in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Rama Nayak was part of a murder plot involving Lipika Nayak and her spouse, Laxmidhar Nayak. Sahadev Nayak was murdered on January 8, 2025, near the Rasulgarh to Vani Vihar highway. Lipika, disguised as a man, brutally hacked Sahadev with a machete, assisted by a young accomplice on a motorcycle. The duo fled and disposed of the weapon in the Daya River.

The police had previously arrested Lipika and Laxmidhar, while Rama Nayak was on the run until his recent surrender. The investigation is ongoing, and the police have not yet released a statement on the next steps. Sahadev Nayak’s family had reported receiving explicit threats before the murder, which had not been adequately addressed by local police.
