Three voters from the Nilgiri Assembly constituency have filed a police complaint against local BJP MLA Santosh Khatua, alleging he made objectionable and misogynistic remarks about senior BJD leader Dr. Lekhashree Samantsinghar.
According to the complaint lodged at the Nilgiri Police Station, the remarks surfaced on a social media platform and were directed at Dr. Samantsinghar, who had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Balasore parliamentary seat on a BJD ticket.
Describing the comments as “humiliating” and “disrespectful to the dignity of women,” the complainants said they were appalled by the statements made by a public representative. “We feel insulted as citizens after hearing such remarks from our elected representative,” stated the complaint.
The trio urged the police to take immediate action against the MLA, stating that such behaviour not only insults an individual but also undermines the values of democratic representation and gender dignity.
As of now, MLA Santosh Khatua has not issued any official response regarding the allegations.
