Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate four new Vande Bharat Express trains from Varanasi on November 8, expanding India’s high-speed rail network across key regions in the North and South.
The new services will operate on the Banaras–Khajuraho, Lucknow–Saharanpur, Firozpur–Delhi, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru routes. These additions aim to enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel time, and promote tourism and trade.
The Banaras–Khajuraho train will connect spiritual and cultural hubs like Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho. It will save nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes compared to current services and provide direct access to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Khajuraho.
The Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat will complete its journey in about 7 hours and 45 minutes, benefiting cities such as Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Bijnor, and Saharanpur. It will also improve access to Haridwar via Roorkee.
The Firozpur–Delhi route will become the fastest train service between Punjab and the national capital, taking just 6 hours and 40 minutes. It will connect Firozpur, Bathinda, and Patiala with Delhi, supporting trade and employment in border regions.
In the South, the Ernakulam–Bengaluru train will cut travel time by over two hours, completing the journey in 8 hours and 40 minutes. It will link Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, offering a faster and more comfortable option for professionals, students, and tourists.
These new Vande Bharat trains feature upgraded interiors, modern safety systems, and improved passenger amenities. The launch underscores the government’s commitment to building a world-class, efficient, and inclusive railway network.
