Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid heartfelt tribute to legendary freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar on their death anniversary, observed nationwide as Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs’ Day.
The three revolutionaries were hanged by the British on March 23, 1931, for their fearless resistance against colonial rule and their ultimate sacrifice for India’s independence.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote,
“Today, our nation remembers the supreme sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. Their fearless pursuit of freedom and justice continues to inspire us all.”
The trio remains immortal in the hearts of every Indian, symbolizing courage, patriotism, and the undying spirit of sacrifice. Shaheed Diwas is observed every year to honor their invaluable contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
