Washington DC: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tulsi Gabbard, the newly appointed US Director of National Intelligence, during his visit to the United States. Their discussions focused on strengthening intelligence cooperation between India and the US, particularly in counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and emerging threats.
Modi congratulated Gabbard on her confirmation, calling her a “strong votary” of India-US relations. “Met USA’s Director of National Intelligence, @TulsiGabbard, in Washington DC. Congratulated her on her confirmation. Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship,” Modi posted on X.
The Ministry of External Affairs also highlighted the meeting, emphasizing the importance of intelligence collaboration in addressing global security challenges.
Modi arrived in Washington DC after co-chairing the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. During his US visit, he is scheduled for bilateral discussions with former President Donald Trump at the White House.
Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, was sworn in as the Director of National Intelligence after receiving Senate confirmation. The oath of office was administered by Attorney General Pam Bondi in the Oval Office. Trump praised Gabbard as “an American of extraordinary courage and patriotism,” noting her three military deployments with the Army National Guard.
Despite facing bipartisan skepticism over her appointment, Gabbard vowed to refocus the US intelligence community and enhance its strategic operations.
