India’s cricketing prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, fresh off a stellar debut IPL season, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Patna Airport on Friday.
In a heartfelt moment that has gone viral, the 14-year-old touched the Prime Minister’s feet in a gesture of deep respect, earning admiration across social media.
The meeting was shared by PM Modi himself on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a warm message:
“At Patna airport, met the young cricketing sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family. His cricketing skills are being admired all over the nation! My best wishes to him for his future endeavours.”
Suryavanshi’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. Bought by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore during the IPL 2025 auction, he became the youngest player ever to be picked in IPL history. His selection followed impressive trials where he caught the eye of batting coach Vikram Rathour and director Zubin Bharucha.
Though he sat out the first seven matches, fate intervened when Sanju Samson was injured, opening the door for Suryavanshi’s debut. The team, under Rahul Dravid’s mentorship, gave him full backing—and he delivered.
In just seven matches, he racked up 252 runs at an average of 36 and a blistering strike rate of 206.56. His century against Gujarat Titans was hailed as one of the best innings of the season, firmly establishing him as a future star.
Named in the India U-19 squad led by Aayush Mhatre, Suryavanshi now aims to cement his place on the international stage.
“This is just the beginning. I want to wear the India jersey one day, and this U-19 tour is a big step,” the young cricketer said.
From being a surprise pick at the auction to sharing the stage with the Prime Minister, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fairytale rise continues to inspire a new generation of cricketers across India.
