Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his official visit to Tokyo, highlighted the deepening strategic and economic partnership between India and Japan, stressing that “strong democracies are natural partners in shaping a better world.”
Addressing a joint press briefing with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Friday, PM Modi announced that Japan will invest 10 trillion yen in India over the next decade, marking a new milestone in bilateral cooperation.
“Our discussions today were both productive and purposeful. As two of the world’s largest economies and vibrant democracies, India and Japan’s partnership is vital not only for our nations but also for global peace and security,” Modi said.
He added that the two leaders have charted a 10-year roadmap to strengthen the “special strategic and global partnership,” with a focus on investment, innovation, economic security, environment, technology, healthcare, mobility, and people-to-people exchanges.
PM Modi also underlined plans to expand cooperation in the defence industry and innovation, reinforcing the role of India-Japan ties in shaping the global order.
“This is the beginning of a golden chapter in our partnership,” Modi said, affirming shared commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
