Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation virtually on the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood, strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, and affirmed that India’s resolute response through Operation Sindoor has sent a powerful message to the world.
Speaking to the people of Sikkim, Modi said the April 22 attack was not just an act of terror against Indians but a direct assault on humanity and the spirit of brotherhood.
“The Pahalgam attack was not only on India, but on humanity itself. The terrorists aimed to break our unity, to destroy families, to create fear—but they failed. The entire nation stood united,” the Prime Minister stated.
In response to the brutal ambush, India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The precision strikes reportedly eliminated multiple terrorist launchpads and infrastructure, triggering international attention.
“We replied with precision and power. We destroyed their terrorist hubs. When Pakistan retaliated by targeting our civilians and soldiers, we struck back harder—destroying multiple enemy airbases,” Modi said.
He further stated that the operation was a clear demonstration of India’s capability to act decisively and swiftly in the face of provocation.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan’s retaliatory actions, which targeted Indian civilians and military personnel, only further exposed Islamabad’s complicity in sponsoring cross-border terrorism.
“Pakistan acted out of rage and frustration, attacking our civilians and soldiers. But their actions exposed their true face to the world. India responded with strength, unity, and surgical precision,” he declared.
Tying the theme of national unity to the occasion of Sikkim’s 50 years as an Indian state, Modi praised the northeastern state’s vibrant culture, contribution to tourism, and spirit of inclusivity.
“Tourism, especially in Sikkim, is a celebration of India’s diversity. Terrorists attacked that very spirit—but we remain undivided and determined,” he said.
The Prime Minister’s address served both as a reaffirmation of India’s internal strength and a stern warning to adversaries, emphasizing that India will not tolerate acts of terror and will respond with firm resolve and strength.
More updates on Operation Sindoor’s outcomes and diplomatic developments are expected in the coming days as the situation along the India-Pakistan border remains tense
