Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for a two-nation diplomatic visit to Japan and China, aimed at deepening strategic partnerships and advancing India’s global standing.
In Japan, the Prime Minister will attend the 15th Annual Summit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The visit seeks to elevate the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two nations, with a strong emphasis on expanding economic ties and cooperation in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
The visit also aims to reinforce civilizational bonds and cultural exchanges, underscoring the historical and people-to-people connections between India and Japan.
Following the Japan leg, the Prime Minister will travel to Tianjin, China, to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit hosted by President Xi Jinping. India, as an active and constructive member of the SCO, has introduced new initiatives in innovation, health, and cultural collaboration during its presidency.
The Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping, President Vladimir Putin, and other regional leaders on the sidelines of the summit. The overarching goal of the visit is to promote peace, security, and sustainable development across Asia and beyond.
