In a gesture reflecting the seriousness of the tragic incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to depart from Saudi Arabia earlier than planned. The terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 28 tourists, has shocked the nation.
PM Modi, who was in Jeddah for bilateral talks with the Saudi leadership, strongly condemned the incident. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed grief over the loss of lives and emphasised India’s unwavering resolve to combat terrorism. He assured that those responsible for this heinous act would face justice.
The Prime Minister will now forgo the official dinner hosted by the Saudi leadership to return home and oversee the situation personally.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Srinagar and conducted an urgent security review meeting with all concerned agencies.
This incident has once again focused attention on the challenges of maintaining peace and security in the region and drawn strong reactions and condolences from leaders across the country.
