A plus 2 girl student named Lipsa Sahu went missing after jumping into the Taladanda canal from a bridge near Balipatana in Jagatsinghpur’s Tirtol block early Wednesday morning.
Lipsa, daughter of Dharanidhar Sahu from Balipatana village, studied in +2 Arts at Adikabi Sarala Das College in Tirtol. Witnesses reported that she jumped into the canal around 5 a.m. Local residents immediately alerted the fire services team.
Fire service officials, led by officer Subas Bhol, reached the spot and began search operations. Teams continued combing the canal waters to trace the missing student. Authorities suspect that personal or family disputes may have triggered the incident, though the exact reason remains unclear.
The disappearance shocked residents of Balipatana village. Many gathered near the bridge as rescue teams worked to locate her. Police also arrived at the site to assist in the investigation and coordinate with fire service personnel.
Family members expressed deep concern and joined the search efforts. The college community also reacted with sadness, as Lipsa was known among peers as a bright student.
Officials confirmed that rescue operations will continue until the missing woman is found. The case highlights growing concerns about youth distress and the need for stronger support systems.
