Bhubaneswar: An unidentified man was found dead on a busy street in Odisha capital on Saturday following an altercation.
The deceased, identified as Trinath while the accused has been identified as Narayan Sahu of Koraput district.
According to sources, the incident took place this evening near Rajmahal-Sishu Bhawan road when two people started arguing over trivial issues.
The argument took an ugly turn when Sahu lost his cool and started attacking Trinath. In retaliation, Trinath also started beating Sahu.
In a fit of rage, Sahu took a big piece of stone and trashed Trinath’s head killing him on the spot.
The eyewitness said that the accused fled the spot and the blood-stained body of Trinath was lying near a large cement brick.
On being informed by the locals, the Capital Police Station personnel reached the spot, detained Sahu for his alleged involvement in the murder, and started interrogating him.
The eyewitness also said that the duo was working as labourers in the city and it is suspected that the incident took over past rivalry.
The police have sent the body to Capital Hospital for post mortem and further investigations are underway.
