The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has announced the unopposed election of Mr. Pankaj Lochan Mohanty as its new President.
The election process, which commenced on January 13, 2025, concluded on February 15, 2025. The election was overseen by Mr. M L Majumdar, IAS (Rtd.), who served as the Electoral Officer.
The Special General Meeting of the OCA, held on February 23, 2025, witnessed the presence of key office bearers, including Secretary Sanjay Behera, Joint Secretary Prabhat Kumar Bhol, and Treasurer Bikash Pradhan, along with all distinguished members.
The OCA extends its best wishes to Mr Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, expressing optimism about his contributions towards enhancing cricket administration and promoting the sport across the state.
The position of OCA President was vacant following the resignation of Pranab Prakash Das, who stepped down in December 2024.
Mohanty, who previously served as the working president after Pranab Prakash Das resigned, was elected unopposed for his second term. He was previously OCA president from 2019 to 2022 and stepped down for Das.
The renovation of Barabati Stadium in Cuttack and the establishment of an OCA academy at Puri are high on his agenda, with support from the BCCI.
Recently, the association faced criticism for floodlight failure during a past ODI match and plans to ensure power backup has been made. The Odisha government and BCCI have asked the OCA for explanations regarding the incident.
