In a fresh escalation following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, Pakistan once again violated the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on the intervening night of April 25–26, official sources confirmed on Saturday.
According to reports, multiple Pakistan Army posts opened unprovoked fire using small arms across the LoC. Indian forces retaliated swiftly and appropriately. No casualties were reported on the Indian side.
This marks the second consecutive night of ceasefire violations by Pakistan since the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed at least 26 lives, including several tourists. The Indian Army had previously reported similar unprovoked firing from across the border on Thursday night, which also triggered immediate retaliation.
Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours have intensified in the wake of the Pahalgam massacre, which India has blamed on Pakistan-backed terror outfits. Diplomatic ties have since soured further, with India suspending the Indus Waters Treaty — a 65-year-old agreement — and closing the Attari land border. All Pakistani nationals who entered via Attari have been directed to exit the country by May 1.
In retaliation, Islamabad condemned India’s actions as an “act of war” and shut its airspace to all Indian commercial flights.
Meanwhile, in a significant counter-terrorism breakthrough, two terrorist associates were arrested on Saturday by Indian security forces in the Qaimoh area of Kulgam district. The arrests come amid heightened security operations across the Valley.
The Line of Control remains tense as both sides brace for further developments in the rapidly deteriorating situation.
