Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) filed an official complaint against Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena’s controversial DRS call during the third ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
The incident occurred in the final over when Pakistan needed 12 runs off two balls. Dharmasena initially signalled a wide on Rishad Hossain’s delivery to Shaheen Afridi. Bangladesh reviewed, and UltraEdge showed a spike, overturning the wide call. The reversal ended Pakistan’s hopes of chasing the 291-run target.
PCB alleged that Bangladesh requested the review only after the replay appeared on the stadium’s big screen, breaching ICC protocols. Officials also claimed the 15-second window for review had expired before the Bangladesh captain signalled. PCB submitted its grievance to match referee Neeyamur Rashid, demanding clarification.
Despite Salman Ali Agha’s brilliant century (106 off 98 balls), Pakistan fell short by 11 runs, losing the series 2-1. The defeat came soon after their disappointing T20 World Cup campaign, adding pressure on the team management.
Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi praised his young squad despite the loss. He said the players fought hard and gained valuable experience. “Really proud of my team. The youngsters played with determination and fought till the last ball,” Afridi said after the match.
