Pakistan has taken several decisive steps following heightened tensions with India after the Pahalgam terror attack.
During a National Security Committee (NSC) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the nation’s top leadership resolved to block Pakistani airspace for all Indian airlines, close the Wagah border, suspend all trade with India, and reduce the strength of Indian diplomatic staff in Islamabad to 30, effective April 30, 2025.
The NSC also reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance amidst India’s decision to hold the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance and downgrade diplomatic missions, including expelling Pakistan’s defence, naval, and air advisors from its High Commission in New Delhi.
The cross-border relations have witnessed significant strain as both nations rally their civilian and military leadership, amplifying the geopolitical turbulence in South Asia.
