Double Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu delivered a commanding performance at the China Masters 2025, defeating Thailand’s sixth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong in straight games to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
The match lasted just 41 minutes, with Sindhu winning 21-15, 21-15.
Ranked 14th globally, Sindhu improved her head-to-head record against Chochuwong to 6-5. She attributed her win to staying alert and focused from the start, especially given the challenging air-conditioning drift in the stadium. “Straight wins always give you that confidence,” Sindhu said, adding that she’s preparing for longer matches ahead.
Sindhu will next face the winner of the match between top seed An Se Young of Korea and Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt. Her recent exit in the first round of the Hong Kong Open makes this victory a strong comeback.
Sindhu is currently training under Indian women’s singles coach Irwansyah Adi Pratama, formerly with the Indonesian men’s team. She praised the growing synergy between them, noting that their coordination is beginning to show results on court.
