The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana has received an overwhelming response in Odisha, with 93,367 individuals registering for the scheme so far.
The central initiative promotes solar energy adoption by offering subsidies for installing rooftop solar panels in residential households.
Speaking in the Odisha Assembly on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo informed that 2,740 beneficiaries in the state have already availed of the scheme. To ensure smooth implementation, the Odisha government has earmarked ₹100 crore in financial assistance for the program.
Among all districts, Bhadrak tops the list with 17,167 registrations, followed by Ganjam with 14,189 applicants. The rising number of registrations reflects growing interest in solar energy solutions across the state.
The scheme is expected to play a crucial role in advancing Odisha’s renewable energy targets while helping households reduce electricity expenses. As the government continues its efforts to expand the program’s reach, more citizens are expected to benefit in the coming months.
Launched in 2024, the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana offers financial subsidies to encourage rooftop solar panel installations in residential areas. The scheme aims to lower electricity costs, promote clean energy use, and strengthen the country’s energy security.
