The Odisha Yatri app has recorded a remarkable 57.44% female user base between October 2024 and July 2025.
Of the 2.57 lakh passengers who used the platform, over 1.48 lakh were women, underscoring the state’s strides in gender-responsive mobility.
Launched by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi in January 2025, Odisha Yatri has steadily gained traction, with female ridership peaking at 61.63% in January. Even in July 2025, women accounted for 55.38% of users—consistently outnumbering male commuters.
Officials attribute this shift to verified drivers, real-time tracking, last-mile connectivity, and a robust grievance redressal system. The app’s integration with enforcement agencies has fostered a safer, more accountable commuting experience.
“This data reflects our commitment to inclusive transport. Women are not just participating—they’re leading,” said Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department.
Furthering its community-first approach, Odisha Yatri offered free auto rides to over 30,000 pilgrims during the Puri Ratha Yatra. Expansion plans include ambulance and boating services, aiming to extend the platform’s reach across Odisha.
As the state moves toward smarter, safer mobility, the rise in female ridership stands as a testament to the trust women place in systems designed with dignity and safety at the core.
