Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor by changing his display picture on X and paying tribute to the Indian Armed Forces for their courage and precision during the military operation.
The updated profile image features a black background with the words “Operation Sindoor” alongside the Indian national flag, symbolising remembrance and national resolve against terrorism.
PM Modi Praises Armed Forces for Precision Strikes
In a message shared on X, PM Modi praised the Army, Navy, and Air Force for carrying out successful precision strikes against terror infrastructure across the border following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in 2025.
He stated that the armed forces gave a “fitting response” to those responsible for attacking innocent civilians and reaffirmed India’s strong stand against terrorism and threats to national security.
According to the Prime Minister, Operation Sindoor showcased India’s unwavering commitment to protecting its citizens and dismantling terror networks operating from across the border.
Senior Leaders and Military Chiefs Also Change Profile Pictures
Along with the Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force also updated their display pictures on social media platforms to commemorate the anniversary of the operation.
The coordinated gesture highlighted national solidarity and recognition of the armed forces’ role in safeguarding the country.
Background: What Was Operation Sindoor?
Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7, 2025, days after a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
The Indian military targeted multiple terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir through coordinated precision strikes. Reports stated that more than 100 terrorists were neutralised during the operation.
Among the major targets were terror launch pads and training facilities in Muzaffarabad and Bahawalpur, including camps such as Markaz Taiba and Markaz Subhan.
India Reiterates Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Terrorism
The Prime Minister reiterated that India remains firm in its resolve to defeat terrorism and dismantle the ecosystem supporting extremist activities.
The Indian Air Force also released a commemorative video revisiting key moments of the operation, describing it as a mission where “justice was served” and reaffirming India’s strong response policy against cross-border terrorism.
