A tragic road accident near Burja Square in Umerkote has claimed the life of Parshu Gouda, a resident of Sandasa village, while two others remain critically injured.
The accident occurred when a pickup van (CG 04 PW 3991) transporting goods from Raighar to Umerkote collided head-on with a bike travelling in the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the pickup van overturned, leaving the bike rider fatally injured.
Eyewitnesses reported that Parshu Gouda’s left leg and hand were severed due to the crash, leading to his instant death at the scene. The two injured individuals were rushed to Umerkote Sub-Divisional Hospital for emergency treatment.
Following the accident, the pickup van driver fled the scene, sparking outrage among locals. In protest, residents blocked the Umerkote-Raighar road, demanding justice and stricter road safety measures.
Upon receiving the report, Umerkote Police Officer Ramakant Saye arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident. Authorities are now working to trace the absconding driver and ensure legal action.
