The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has announced significant price reductions across its dairy product range following the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) revision.
The revised prices, effective from today, aim to make essential dairy items more affordable for households across the state.
Among the key changes:
- A 500 ml UHT milk tetra pack now costs ₹37, down ₹2.
- One-litre milk pack reduced by ₹3 to ₹67.
- Paneer prices dropped by ₹5 to ₹10 depending on pack size.
- Flavored milk bottles (180 ml) now priced at ₹23, down ₹2.
- Ghee prices slashed across all formats, with the one-litre poly jar now at ₹665 (₹40 reduction), and the 15-litre tin pack down by over Rs 500 to Rs 7,645.
OMFED’s decision aligns with the central government’s broader GST rate cuts on over 375 items, aiming to ease inflationary pressure and boost consumer spending. The dairy cooperative emphasized its commitment to passing on tax benefits directly to consumers, ensuring affordability without compromising quality.
This move is expected to benefit millions of households in Odisha and may prompt similar actions from other regional dairy cooperatives.
