A delegation led by CMD Dr. Ranjit Rath, along with CGM Santanu Kumar Saikia, OGEL Rajeev Kumar Tamuli, and other representatives from Oil India Ltd, met with Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, at Kharabela Bhawan.
The discussion focused on the progress of six Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants being developed across Odisha.
During the meeting, project timelines, readiness for commissioning, and integration with municipal waste systems to ensure a steady feedstock supply were addressed. Both parties emphasised the importance of converting urban waste into green energy, which aligns with Odisha’s broader clean energy and circular economy vision.
Smt. Padhee highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable waste-to-energy models that reduce landfill burdens while creating local economic value. The Oil India delegation expressed confidence in achieving key milestones and reaffirmed their commitment to closely partnering with the department.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to expedite coordination between Oil India and urban local bodies to ensure the CBG plants can be commissioned in a timely manner, contributing significantly to the state’s green growth agenda. Sri Binaya Kumar Dash, Additional Secretary, was also present during the discussion.
