The Odisha government has dismissed 159 government officials over the last five years on corruption charges.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during a session in the Odisha Assembly.
The dismissed officials include 120 who were terminated and 39 who were forced into compulsory retirement due to allegations of misconduct. Additionally, the government has seized illegal assets worth Rs 59.47 crore from these officials.
Data presented in the Assembly reveals that from 2014 to February 2025, 3,623 corruption-related cases have been registered in the state. Out of these, legal proceedings have resulted in 939 convictions, while 1,053 accused were acquitted due to a lack of evidence.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uprooting corruption, emphasizing that the efforts are part of a larger mission to restore public trust in the administrative system.
With thousands of cases still under investigation, the government aims to strengthen its vigilance efforts further, ensuring that public servants adhere to ethical and legal standards.
