In a significant crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance launched simultaneous searches at six locations linked to Golap Chandra Hansdah, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of Boudh, on allegations of possessing disproportionate assets (DA) relative to his known sources of income.
The operation, initiated early today, is being conducted under the supervision of four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), seven Inspectors, and supporting staff, following search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada.
The raids target properties across Baripada, Boudh, and Bhubaneswar, including Hansdah’s residential house in Prafulla Nagar, Baripada (Mayurbhanj District), his rented residence in Boudh, his office chamber at the RTO office in Boudh, his paternal house in Gudidiha village under Khunta Police Station (Mayurbhanj District), a rented flat belonging to his daughter in Pandara, Bhubaneswar, and the house of a close associate in Baghdiha, Ward No. 28, Baripada.
The searches aim to uncover evidence of assets disproportionate to Hansdah’s legitimate earnings, reflecting Odisha Vigilance’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption among public officials.
This operation follows a pattern of recent vigilance actions in Odisha, where officials have been found amassing illicit wealth. The public awaits further updates as the searches continue, with Odisha Vigilance promising a detailed report upon completion. Hansdah, serving as an MVI, is now under scrutiny, and the findings could have significant implications for his career and the broader fight against corruption in the state.
As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to shed light on the extent of Hansdah’s alleged illicit assets.
