Odisha Vigilance struck a decisive blow against corruption in the district of Kandhamal.
Revenue Inspector (RI) Debasis Nayak, from Krandibili Revenue Circle, was apprehended while accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a landowner.
The bribe was reportedly demanded to prevent action against the landowner for preparing bricks on his own land for personal use.
Acting on a complaint from the victim, Odisha Vigilance organized a trap, leading to Nayak’s capture with the tainted money in hand. Investigative searches are now underway at two locations connected to the accused for further inquiries into disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, marking a critical moment in the state’s mission to combat unethical practices.
