Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested the clerk in the office of Lephripada Tahasildar and his accomplice for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

The accused have been identified as Golekh Nayak, Jr. Clerk, Revenue Section, O/o Tahasildar, Lephripada, Dist-Sundargarh and Arun Seth (Private Person).

Nayak has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant to process his file for passing orders to demarcate his land. For the last one month, the complainant has been requesting the accused Nayak to move his file for the above purpose.

But, Nayak was demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant to get his work done. Left with no option, the complainant reported the matter to the Vigilance Authority explaining his harassment.

Based on this, Vigilance officials chalked out the plan and nabbed Nayak today, while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant and handing over the same to one Private Person Arun Seth. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Nayak, Jr.clerk and Sri Arun Seth ( Private Person).

Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Nayak, Jr Clerk from the DA angle.

In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case No.04 dtd.16-02-2025, U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against the duo Nayak and Seth (Private Person).
