The Odisha government is set to unveil a new excise policy within the next 15 to 20 days, according to Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.
The updated framework, currently in its final phase of preparation, is expected to bring key regulatory changes to the sector.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Minister Harichandan stated, “The formulation of the new excise policy is in its conclusive phase. Until it is implemented, the existing policy has been extended for a month to ensure smooth regulation.”
The revised guidelines are anticipated to introduce significant reforms aimed at strengthening regulation and addressing sectoral challenges. The government’s focus is on modernizing and streamlining excise administration while maintaining a balance between economic and social considerations.
The policy will come into force after receiving final approval from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Authorities believe the new measures will enhance transparency and efficiency in Odisha’s excise sector, ensuring better oversight and governance.
