Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today attended a high-level discussion in Bhubaneswar on curriculum reform and textbook development.
The meeting focused on aligning Odisha’s school education system with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
State School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, Additional Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy Archana Sharma, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Dr N. Tirumala Naik, OSEPA State Project Director Ananya Das, Director of Teacher Education and SCERT Manoj Kumar Padhi, Director of Primary Education Balamukunda Bhuyan, and NCERT Senior Professor Ranjan Arora were present.
In addition, District Education Officers from 30 districts, DIET representatives, principals of Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas, and Eklavya Model Residential Schools joined virtually.
The Odisha government is developing new textbooks based on NEP 2020. From the academic year 2026-27, 55 new textbooks will be introduced for students from Class I to Class VIII. Minister Pradhan discussed the implementation plan with district officials and emphasised the importance of modern, student-centric learning materials.
