After enduring several days of intense heat and humidity, Odisha is set to receive relief as the weather takes a welcome turn. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, day temperatures across the state are expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius starting Thursday, providing respite from the ongoing heatwave.
The meteorological forecast indicates that rains are likely to return to various districts from June 14, driven by monsoon activity. This shift is expected to benefit both farmers and urban residents, easing the discomfort caused by the prolonged dry spell and high humidity levels.
In addition to the rain, the weather office has issued a thunderstorm alert for the next three days across multiple districts. Areas including Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri are on alert for lightning and strong gusty winds. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid open spaces during storm activity.
This anticipated shift in weather, accompanied by rainfall and cooler temperatures, marks the return of monsoon conditions to the state, breaking the prolonged dry and oppressive spell.
