The Central Government has agreed to fund the construction of 92 railway overbridges across Odisha fully. The Union Railway Ministry has granted the necessary approval, ensuring that the entire cost will be borne by the railways, relieving the state government of any financial burden.
Previously, the funding for these overbridges was planned on a 50-50 basis between the Railway Ministry and the Odisha state government. However, following a request from the state to shift the full responsibility to the central authorities, the ministry has communicated its consent via official correspondence. This decision will facilitate the development of these critical structures at various locations in Odisha, enhancing connectivity and safety.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on behalf of the people of Odisha. He highlighted the Central Government’s compassionate approach towards the state’s infrastructure growth.
“Prime Minister Modi has consistently prioritised Odisha’s development,” said the Chief Minister. “From railways and roadways to ports, airports, and industrial expansion, the PM has accorded utmost importance to Odisha. This gesture of respect towards the people of Odisha will undoubtedly accelerate the state’s progress.”
Heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and Hon’ble Minister of Railways Shri @AshwiniVaishnaw ji for their continued support towards strengthening railway infrastructure in Odisha.
