A major scam in the Odisha Police SI recruitment process led to the Crime Branch arresting several candidates for cheating.
Among those arrested are children of current and former police officers. Shankar Prusty and Muna Mahanti remain absconding, with phones switched off. Officials suspect their involvement in organizing fake certifications and proxy candidates.
🕵️ Brokers and Fake Certificates Surface
Parents of arrested candidates alleged brokers took original certificates. Brokers operated from Brahmapur, but their exact office remains unknown. Shankar Prusty reportedly spent most time in Bhubaneswar despite being from Sheragada. Suresh Nayak, owner of Silicon Pvt Ltd, faced interrogation at Crime Branch HQ. Authorities believe private firms helped facilitate exam fraud.
📍 Scam Reaches Bargarh District
Five arrested candidates hail from Bargarh district. They belong to villages under Bijepur, Bhoytikra, Talpadar, Jokhipali, and Kumhari police stations. Locals suspect brokers helped them cheat in the exam. Crime Branch continues to trace the network behind the scam. Officials expect more shocking revelations as the probe deepens.
🏛️ Chief Minister Intervenes

Hopeful candidates protested outside Harekrushna Mahtab Library in Bhubaneswar. Authorities promised a fair and transparent recruitment process going forward.
