Odisha has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to urban cleanliness and sustainable development, earning national recognition in the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2024–25.

In a proud moment for the state, NAC Aska secured the 2nd rank in the 20,000 to 50,000 population category, while NAC Chikiti also clinched the 2nd rank in the less than 20,000 population category. Both towns were conferred the Swachh Shehar Awards by the Hon’ble President of India, marking a significant milestone in Odisha’s grassroots sanitation efforts.

Adding to the accolades, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was recognised as the Promising Swachh Shehar of Odisha by the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. Bhubaneswar also achieved a prestigious 9th rank in the national cleanliness rankings, placing it among the Top 10 cleanest cities in India.

The awards ceremony was graced by Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister, Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha, alongside senior officials and representatives from various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated the H&UD Department for its relentless efforts, effective leadership, and community-driven approach. He emphasised that these recognitions reflect Odisha’s growing stature in national urban governance and its commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission.

As Odisha continues to set benchmarks in cleanliness and citizen-centric urban development, these accolades serve as a testament to the state’s vision for a cleaner, healthier future.
