The Odisha government has directed senior bureaucrats and Secretaries to conduct extensive tours across various districts to assess the implementation of welfare schemes and local development efforts.
According to fresh guidelines issued by the Development Commissioner’s office, Secretaries from all departments will travel across the state between June and August. During their stay—lasting two to three days per district—they will inspect administrative performance at the panchayat and block levels.
Their agendas include mid-day meal participation in SC/ST hostels, checking service delivery at health centres, and interacting directly with local communities. A major priority will be inspecting infrastructure, hygiene conditions, and student welfare at tribal residential schools and hostels.
The outreach plan specifically targets 29 aspirational blocks in 19 districts, where officials will closely collaborate with district Collectors to tailor development strategies. The broader aim is to close policy-to-execution gaps and foster more inclusive, accountable public service.
This district immersion initiative is expected to build stronger public trust and ensure government schemes reach the people who need them most.
