The Odisha government has suspended Sanjukta Mohanty, the Sarpanch of Gramnandipur Gram Panchayat in Jajpur district, over allegations of embezzling ₹11.72 lakh intended for local development under Central Finance Commission schemes.

The suspension follows an investigation prompted by social activist Jayant Sadangi’s complaint, which was validated by district authorities.

Collector P Anvesha Reddy directed the district panchayat officer to investigate the allegation, and it was determined to be valid, according to officials.

Officials assert that Mohanty’s actions contravened the Odisha Gram Panchayat Act, 1964, and were detrimental to the community’s interests.
