Odisha Revenue Minister Warns of Action if Amala Sangha Protest Continues

Odisha Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari on Wednesday issued a stern warning to members of the Amala Sangha, urging them to immediately resume duties or face administrative action, including salary suspension.

The association, which began an indefinite strike on Monday, has brought revenue operations across the state to a standstill.

Addressing media persons, Minister Pujari stated that mass leave and work boycotts would not be tolerated. “All leave applications will be cancelled. The government’s ‘no work, no pay’ policy will be enforced,” he said, adding that District Collectors have been instructed to revoke sanctioned leaves.

The Amala Sangha’s 10-point charter of demands includes cadre restructuring, pay level upgrades, enhanced health insurance coverage, time-bound promotions, and restoration of the old pension scheme. However, the Minister clarified that cadre restructuring falls under the General Administration Department, not the Revenue Department. “The file has already been forwarded with our remarks. The final decision rests with the GA Department,” he noted.

Despite repeated appeals, the association has vowed to continue its agitation until their demands are met. Minister Pujari emphasized that dialogue—not disruption—is the path forward. “Taking mass leave without awaiting a decision is unhealthy for citizens relying on public services,” he said.

The strike has severely impacted administrative functioning across districts, prompting concerns over delays in essential public services.
