Odisha is witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures, with both coastal and interior regions recording significant increases over the past four days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), interior districts have seen jumps of up to 7°C, while coastal towns reported rises of around 3°C.
Jharsuguda recorded 14°C, marking a steep increase of 7.2°C. Keonjhar registered 14.6°C, up by 5.2°C. Bhubaneswar also saw a rise, touching 14.6°C, which is 2.2°C higher than earlier readings.
Paradip’s temperature stood at 15.4°C, reflecting a 3°C rise. Balasore recorded 16°C, also up by 3°C. Chandbali registered 16.2°C, a 4°C jump. Gopalpur reported 16.8°C, up by 1.4°C, while Puri touched 18.4°C, marking a 2.4°C increase.
Meteorologists attributed the rise in temperature to active western disturbances currently affecting the region. These disturbances have altered weather patterns, leading to warmer conditions across Odisha.
The sudden rise has raised concerns among residents, especially in interior districts where the jump has been more pronounced. With winter usually marked by cooler nights, the unusual increase has surprised many.
Experts suggest that such fluctuations are part of broader climatic changes and highlight the importance of monitoring regional weather variations. The IMD continues to track the situation and issue updates for public awareness.
